Every year, Pirelli recognizes the efforts of its top suppliers at Pirelli Supplier Day, highlighting sustainability, continuous innovation, quality of raw materials, impeccable service and competitiveness. The 2023 event took place at the company's headquarters in Milan, with the participation of companies of all sizes from 18 countries. More than 70 companies were recognized as strategic suppliers, representing approximately 40% of the Group's annual global purchases. Andrea Maganzani, Pirelli Chief Procurement Officer, presented awards to five suppliers for their outstanding performance this year. Marco Tronchetti Provera, Executive Vice-President, commented: “Our company has always set itself ambitious goals that would not be achievable without the support of those who work with us. Sharing our company values and goals with the entire supply chain enables us to continuously improve, especially in terms of sustainability and innovation, which are key strategic elements supporting our global leadership in high-value segments and sustainability indices.” During Suppliers Days 2023, Pirelli highlighted its Open Innovation approach involving collaboration with suppliers, universities and innovation centres committed to pioneering new product developments. The focus has shifted towards the use of new bio-based and recycled materials, as well as innovative nanopolymers. The event highlighted the excellence and dedication of the entire supply chain, which makes a significant contribution to Pirelli’s stated objectives. Sustainability is a key theme, reflected in the company’s 2025 goal of carbon neutrality and the reduction of its use of fossil fuel materials. This is achieved through research and innovation in renewable and recycled resources. Bureau Veritas confirmed that collaboration with the supply chain played a crucial role in the launch of the P Zero E tire in 2023, which contains more than 55% natural and recycled materials. In 2021, Pirelli took the lead in launching the world’s first Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified tire, ensuring full traceability of raw materials from forests throughout the supply chain. The company said the certification guarantees responsible management of plantations, protects biodiversity and benefits local communities and workers, thus enhancing economic sustainability.
